MLA Essay: Poetry

Instructions
Select any two poems from the “Poetry” book (see the “Poetry” pdf attachment). Find an example of a metaphor, or a simile, or a hyperbole in each of the two poems you select. Print out the example of figurative language in each poem, and explain what each example of figurative language means, and why each adds power to the poem it is in. If you can, try to find poems which are somehow connected by their images, messages, or figurative language, and discuss the connection between the poems in your paper.
As you know, figurative language is a tool used by a poet in order to express something which could have been said in another way. In your paper, tell the reader why you believe the writer of each poem you choose decided to use the particular example of figurative language which he or she did. What does it add to the poem, in each case? Be sure to include a documented definition of the type(s) of figurative device about which you are writing, and cite a dictionary for this purpose. MLA-9 format required. Three pages, minimum length, including the works cited.
All the poems in our “Poetry” book have been sourced from internet pages. In your paper, prepare in-text citations and works cited entries according to the MLA rules for citing internet sources.
