Personal worldviews and how doctors do their jobs The way people see the world is influenced by their cultural and religious backgrounds. For me, my view of the world is based on a higher power that comes from Christianity. A nurse practitioner’s job can change if they believe in a higher power. The goals of healthcare right now are to get rid of differences in health and to adapt to different cultures and patients. This can lead to better health promotion and disease management for all patients, no matter who they are or where they come from. “Adaptation and relearning are strategies that can help health professionals deal with a changing environment for a long time to come, especially since the U.S. healthcare system is likely to change more as a result of future efforts to reform it” (DeNisco, 2019). So, it is the job of nurse practitioners to understand and adapt to patients’ differences and cultural preferences, as well as to work with other professionals to provide high-quality, safe care for patients, no matter what their own values and beliefs are. A person’s view of the world can affect not only how they care for patients, but also how they work with other professionals. To give high-quality patient care, it is important for healthcare professionals to understand spiritual and cultural differences and find ways to work with them. “If someone asks you to make a specific change, it’s best to look into your policies and procedures first and be ready to talk about religious traditions and practices you’re not familiar with” (Tanenbaum, 2022). When all health care workers, including advanced practice nurses, understand diversity and put the patient’s religious and cultural preferences first, it will also help get rid of health disparities. Everyone has their own way of looking at the world. The goal of healthcare is to adapt to and accept these different ways of looking at the world, especially with patients.
