Enterprise Content Management

Enterprise Content Management
Data governance entails the general management of the data of an organization and how it is accessed and utilized while maintaining its security and integrity. When an organization installs an all-inclusive data governance policy, they formulate guidelines to retain data management and security with consideration to any regulatory laws. In my opinion I believe that data governance impacts the processes used in handling data in various ways. For instance, data governance ensures that employees in an organization handle data with caution. As such, they are inclined to know who has access to their data and who should be cut off from it. Data is thus restricted to necessary users. This can also assist to help avoid data susceptibility and keep hackers from infiltrating the organization’s systems. Another impact of data governance is that it helps to avoid duplication of data (Sen, 2019). This can save employees time and money in hunting down the suitable data and getting it into the correct hands to move the process of sales forward. Data governance allows for the automation of processes. Through the influence of data governance, an organization’s data sets can be automated as well as areas of the business that consume the most time. Last but not least, data governance creates more consistency in an organization. It allows people to develop processes where everyone has similar consistent information thus ensuring integrity and accuracy.
The steps that should be followed to properly evaluate an organization’s processes that are related to content management include the following:
• Every content management should be tested for ease of use.
• Consider the technical expertise for the preliminary setup and any custom programming requirements
• Evaluate the amount and kind of support that is available for the content management
• Read through a number of postings made on online user’s groups for every product. Take note of common matters or shortcomings that are constantly mentioned.
• Conduct a research on the number and kind of plug-ins that are available for the content management
• Test the general speed of every package. Additionally, consider how long it takes for every transaction in the database to process. Product searches that perform poorly or order processing can have a negative effect on the business’ bottom line
• Consult the Web hosting service regarding the kinds and release levels they support on every content management that makes the last cut
• Consider the number, kind and price of style templates that are available for every content management
There are various areas of data governance. In this case, the selected area is security. As the threats to network infrastructure continue to change, threat management security solutions are an integral part of data management that alert employees to possible and actual threats and minimizing damage (Sen, 2019). With data governance policies, employees would be required to handle data carefully ensuring that it is not accessed by unauthorized parties; as such, data would only be restricted to necessary users. More so, it would be necessary for employees to check which personnel have access to their data and what they are utilizing it for. Without data governance policies, employees would not be keen on who accesses their data. For this reason, they would expose their data to cyberattackers who can easily hack their data. The effect of the business is that it would incur costs associated with activities initiated to counter the attacks from hackers. Therefore, there is the possibility of the business suffering losses.
