The primary function of a corrections officer is to protect the community by supervising offenders and reporting noncompliance to the sentencing or releasing authority. In addition to the organizational mission statement, the corrections subdivision has its own mission. The mission of the Department of Detention is to serve diligently and reliably collaborate with other entities within the criminal justice community. The Department of Detention will ensure protection of the surrounding community by establishing safe, secure, and human supervision and confinement of inmates. This subdivision has recently been faced with some challenges, including overpopulation of inmates, budget constraints, and high attrition rates. The factors have led to outdated officer equipment, The main job of a corrections officer is to keep the public safe by keeping an eye on criminals and telling the people who sentenced or released them if they don’t follow the rules. The corrections division has its own mission in addition to the organization’s mission. The goal of the Department of Detention is to work hard and consistently with other parts of the criminal justice system. The Department of Detention will keep the community safe by making sure that inmates are watched over and locked up in a way that is safe, secure, and humane. This subdivision has been facing some problems lately, low employee retention rates, and inexperienced management. There is a high level of camaraderie between employees, and interdepartmental communication is exceptional.
