Everyone fails. It is part of life. Rather than pretend it won’t happen, you should count on it. “Despite what helicopter parents think, everyone fails. It is part of life,” said College of Business Dean, Paul Jarley. “Getting comfortable with failure is a key step in becoming a better risk–taker and successful business leader”.

In this assignment you are going to prepare a “Failure Analysis.” A failure analysis is the process of collecting and analyzing data to determine the cause of a failure. You will write an account of a failure you have experienced in the past in detail. Your failure story has to focus on a time you stepped out of your comfort zone to experience something new. It can be at work or personal but it should be an event you can describe, NOT a personality trait or bad habit. It should be a scenario where your actions, or lack of, caused something to happen.

Here are the guidelines. Be sure to include in your Analysis the following. It can answering the questions one by one but we will need to be able to follow exactly what happened through the use of the questions below.

Describe in detail what you did that led up to the failure. Outline specifically the steps and actions you took leading up to the failure.
Tell me what happened and then what did you expect to happen in the situation.
Make sure to outline exactly where things went wrong and what failed?
Reflect on why you failed, what could have been done differently and how you felt when you failed?
Outline how you could have changed the events or course of action.
Explain in detail how this failure helped you grow. What did you learn from this failure?
