For this week, you need to first watch The Problem with Apu. Once you have watched the entire documentary, I’d like you to also watch Hank Azaria’s response on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert:

You can find all of these episodes here: http://www.simpsonsworld.com/browse/episodes.

And then I’d like you to find one more commentary piece on the controversy on your own – they should be easy to find.
After you do ALL of that!, please write the following:
I’d like you to write a response with two sections: 1: one page single-spaced response in which you defend The Simpsons’ regarding the depiction of the character of Apu, as well as on their choice to continue to use a white actor to voice an Indian character. 2: I also would like you to write a one page single-spaced response in which you condemn their depiction.
SUBMIT THIS IN ONE DOCUMENT. If you use sources (which you can and should but do not allow the sources to take over your own voice and authority in stating your own ideas), please use MLA to cite them, both in parenthetical citation as well as including a Works Cited page at the end – ALSO included in your ONE DOCUMENT. Make sure you also cite all the primary sources you reference in addition to articles that offer secondary support, such as Simpsons episodes you reference, the documentary, etc.
