Palliative care is care given to patients with life-threatening diseases. It aims at reducing physical and psychological stress and controlling symptoms such as pain and nausea. For example, a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy gets nausea, he/she may take medication to control it. Palliative care is offered by a primary care physician together with other specialists such as psychotherapists, nurses and occupational therapists under nursing and health care help practice. Telehealth plays an essential role in palliative care. It not only provides a platform for the caregiver to connect with the patient’s family but also provides apps that can be used to track the progress of the patient.
